Summiting Mt Kilimanjaro

I summited Kili in late January 2008 and this definitely has to be the highlight of my year thus far. I climbed with 6 others and a whole hoard of porters. WE all made the summit ( only just !! ) and boy did we have fun doing it. What a walk. We went from hot tropical rainforest through into mud and hard lichen covered rock and up into sleet and then snow. Up we went , through rain ( lots of it ) and sleet and sun and then more rain. Cloudy with thunderstorms and a touch of sun- was order of each day! It took us seven days to complete. We did the Machame route and the hardest part was going down. Would I do it again YES YES YES. What tip do I have for ardent climbers: get super-fit for mountains before you go. The fitter you are the more you will enjoy this incredible mountain.
