On 3 July 2012 a massive disc of orange slipped up over a slivery ocean
behind the St Baize lighthouse in Mossel Bay.
My interns and I took the opportunity to try and capture its beauty in an
image. I thought it was impossible to understand the true splendour of this
spectacle without seeing it with the naked eye.
However, I was keen to try as it truly was a sight to behold and I wanted
to share it with others.
I positioned myself perilously close to the edge of a cliff and used a
beanbag for support -as my tripod had been annexed by an intern!
I managed to get the glow of the moon and the lighthouse in the last rays
of the evening sun and I truly believe that this image represents what I saw
with my eyes. What fun. This is what inspiration is all about.
I hope you enjoy looking at the image and absorbing the beauty of our
world- the man-made beacon juxtaposed with the natural and timeless
moonshine.
